Objectives & Founders
Gemcore was founded in 1989 as a non-profit organization through the generous support of individuals known for their academic endowment, contributions to the arts and sciences, as well as, their active support of the scientific and museum communities. Currently, the principal founders serve as Gemcore's Board of Directors. In addition, Gemcore is supported by a diversity of corporate and individual members who contribute to its funding base and program direction.
The quest for knowledge has both guided and advanced mankind's progress throughout the ages. Like other traditional sciences, the study of gems is not a modern discipline, rather it's beginnings stretch back into ancient history. Investing in Research
By sponsoring and conducting major exhibits, Gemcore has been able to expand corporate, academic and public interest in the Gem Sciences. Within the framework of unique exhibition environments, Gemcore brings together extensive photographic and specimen information to create an exciting new dimension for presenting the lore, legend and and technology of Gemstones. In addition, Gemcore has also been a major contributor to United Nations Gemstone Development programs worldwide.
